The objective of this article is more to inform and enlighten our fellow Filipinos. This article states that betadine testing is not standard. This form of testing is only done in the Philippines.
This betadine test is very subjective. The amount of betadine placed is dependent on the user and done under an uncontrolled environment. The betadine solution could also be expired.
A statement from our partners from Japan.
Betadine is not a STANDARD test. We know in the Philippine market that the filipino is doing this method but this is very WRONG. What is the rationale behind this betadine test? From what method of pharmacopeia did it come from?
Based on proper lab testing procedures this is NOT the way you check if the glutathione is authentic or not. The right method to test the Reduced glutathione is via HPLC method or High Pressure Liquid Chromatography Report. The method to test for Glutathione free form is via GC which is Gas Chromatography. This is the compliant standard.
From what we have seen this betadine test became popular in the Philippine market because of the betadine testing of the sodium ascorbate of a certain brand vitamin c. As a matter of fact betadine will also clear without Glutathione. Betadine will clear with only Vitamin C.
Betadine Test is not a Standard Glutathione Test.
